Ph.D. Students
The vast majority of gene expression studies fail to distinguish distinct RNA isoforms that originate from the same gene. This results in inaccurate conclusions, the failure to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets and an overall reduced understanding of human biology. Basic Genomics has developed BaseCode technology to overcome this problem without the need for expensive dedicated equipment or the reliance on inaccurate long-read sequencing technologies. Instead, BaseCode chemistry takes advantage of well-established and widely available short- read sequencing technology, to bring throughput, quality, ease-of-use and accessibility to long-read data.
We are continuously developing BaseCode chemistry as well as software to maximize the quality of the data and optimize the customer experience. As part of this project you would embed into our team and perform experiments that are aimed at further developing some of the core technology behind our BaseCode chemistry. Depending on your background, this project would be experimental, or combine experimental and computational approaches.
