NEXUS Epigenomics AB is a Stockholm based  biotech startup developing scalable, enzyme-based technologies for genome-wide epigenomic profiling. Our lead platform, MeTLAND®, enables high-quality enrichment of methylated DNA from low-input and clinically relevant samples. The company is a spinout from research conducted at Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University, and is supported by the European Research Council (ERC) and innovation funding from KI Innovations and SU Holding. Our vision is to support advancements in biology and medicine by providing reliable, accessible epigenomic profiling solutions.

We are looking for interns who are excited by the pace of startup life and are eager to contribute to our growth from a small startup to a global leader in epigenomics.

The project

Please describe the project, the expected outcome.

During the internship, you will apply your scientific expertise to the development and optimization of our flagship epigenomics product. While the work will draw on familiar wet-lab techniques, the context will be very different from academia: your experiments will directly inform the design of a commercial product intended for broad use in research and industry.

You will contribute to protocol refinement and product robustness, analyze results with an eye toward usability and reproducibility, and work closely with our team to integrate user feedback into assay development. In addition, you will be part of ongoing efforts to explore new applications of our technologies, where scientific insights are rapidly translated into product opportunities.

By the end of the internship, you will have gained first-hand experience in how wet-lab research is transformed into scalable tools, with exposure to the product development cycle, quality considerations, and the dynamics of working in an early-stage biotech startup.

The candidate

Please specify background and skills needed for the proposed project.

• KI Postdoctoral and early career researchers in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with core molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, cell culture) and with method development/optimization
• Experience with NGS-based assays (ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, RNA seq), histology, high-throughput -omic workflows assays and/or data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python)
• Curious, self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic lab environment
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to deliver within a cross-functional team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
