Molecular Attraction

Target Group : Postdocs and researchers (3 months)

About Molecular Attraction

Molecular Attraction is a biotechnology company developing sustainable solutions for controlling vector-borne diseases by modifying insect and pest behavior. We aim to create effective and environmentally friendly products for better mosquito control. Our formulations contain attractants, phagostimulants or natural mosquito pheromones.

The project

Our main products are currently in the R&D phase. This project focuses on testing the impact of our formulations on mosquito behavior and their effects on the next generation, under laboratory conditions and in an open-field trial.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoc or researcher with a background in biology or biochemistry, and a strong interest in vector-borne diseases.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in mosquito behavior experiments in both laboratory and open-field settings.
  • Data analysis from laboratory and field experiments.
  • Optimizing the formulation and stability of chemical compounds (pheromone and phagostimulants).
  • Supporting the maintenance of the laboratory mosquito colonies.

This internship offers hands-on experience in product development and research within an innovative biotech setting.

Location and time period

The internship will take place at Molecular Attraction’s offices and labs in Huvudsta. The facilities are shared with two other biotechnology companies, providing excellent networking opportunities.

The start date is flexible, but we would prefer candidates available from May, aligning with the peak mosquito season. The position is full time.

The candidate would preferably have

  • Hands-on experience in biochemistry or molecular biology lab.
  • Strong skills in following experimental protocols, data analysis, and data reporting.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Capacity to work independently, while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Most importantly, a genuine interest in fighting vector borne diseases and protecting the environment we all share and live in.
