About the company 

Atlas Antibodies is a biotech company specialized in the production of antibodies and their validation. In the context of scientific research antibodies can be used to identify and quantify the location of proteins within tissue or cells. Atlas Antibodies is a spin off from the Human Protein Atlas (HPA), a project developed to create antibodies against all the protein in the human body; therefore, the company provides antibodies for almost all proteins in the human body. The company’s facilities are located in the new life science center Forskaren in Hagastaden, where everything from product development to antibody production, QC and shipping out products to customers occur.  

Project description 

The project aims to evaluate and compare the MAGic™Beads purification technology (https://magicbioprocessing.com) to current standards applied for Protein-A affinity purification of antibodies. Hybridoma produced monoclonal antibodies will be used as test material to conduct parallel purification process to assess each methods’ efficiency. Purity and yield of the purified antibody samples will be assessed using standard biophysical methods including SDS-PAGE. Further quality control of the purified antibodies will be performed in functional assays, such as ELISA, WB and/or IHC as applicable.  

The candidate 

A passion for biological sciences, independent work, and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are crucial. The candidate should have more than two years of experience working in a laboratory and experience from protein production and purification using chromatography, preferably ÄKTA systems.  Experience from cell culturing is meritorious, but not crucial.  If the above criteria are met, students are welcome to apply if more than 3 years into doctoral studies. The student will work closely with experienced researchers in the R&D department and participate in team meetings and discussions to get a good insight into work life in a life science company.
