This project is open to postdoctoral and early career researchers (PhD degree holders) with a fixed term employment at KI, or on a KI stipend, before and during the internship.

COUNTAGEN

Target Group : Postdocs & Researchers (3 months)

About Countagen

Countagen is a young start-up from Stockholm University located on the KI Science Park Campus. We are developing a ‘plug-and-play’ reagent kit for gene editing analysis to accelerate research and development around CRISPR/Cas9 applications. To do so, we use advanced DNA technologies for a made-to-order reagent kit that enables simple, cost-effective, and accurate targeted nucleic acid quantification using only standard laboratory equipment. We work with the vision to make digital nucleic acid quantification accessible to researchers across disciplines starting with CRISPR gene editing.

The Project

- The candidate will be involved in developing a high throughput prototype product by adapting the existing technology. The work will involve:

- Further develop, innovate and optimize molecular assays for gene editing analysis

- Develop crude DNA extraction methods to be integrated in the current assay workflow

- Implement and innovate the technology for use in a high-throughput manner

- Evaluate and optimize the assay performance

- Generate proof-of-concept data

- Collaborate with the team to drive innovation with customer perspective

The Candidate

We are looking for a post-doc with high levels of energy, a solution-oriented mindset, and the drive to seek challenges in a startup environment. You have:

- PhD degree in biosciences, biotechnology or similar

- Wet lab experience with common molecular biology methods like PCR, qPCR, DNA molecular assays

- Experience with gene editing methods such as, CRISPR/Cas9 technology is highly regarded

- Experience with digital PCR, Sanger sequencing or NGS is considered an advantage

- Standard epi-fluorescence microscopy experience

- Excellent problem-solving skills

- Strong communication and presentation skills

The Team

You will join an international start-up team in an exciting phase of product development and customer validation. We offer:

- Great team members

- Dynamic and innovative culture

- Collaborative and diverse environment

- English is the working language

- The internship is available for 3 months (Postdocs) between May - December 2023 or as agreed upon
