SPRINT BIOSCIENCE AB

Target group: Postdocs and Researchers

About the organization: Sprint Bioscience is a Swedish pharmaceutical company with focus on early-stage drug discovery in oncology. Sprint Bioscience embraces disciplines such as computational chemistry, synthesis, biochemistry, structural biology and cellular biology. At the Tumor Biology and Therapeutics team we aim to test our proprietary compounds in relevant and translational cellular models to prove their biological activity and value as therapeutic tools.

PROJECT: Characterize a cellular model with high translational value to test NNMT inhibitors.

One of our projects aims to target Nicotinamide-methyl transferase (NNMT), a protein involved in cellular metabolism and linked to epigenetic modulation. We have developed potent NNMT inhibitors for which we need to test their biological activity in relevant, translatable to the clinic, cellular models. NNMT protein levels have been associated to the development and progression of glioblastoma, and the project work would imply to use appropriate cellular models and readouts to elucidate the role of NNMT in glioblastoma, with the final aim of using the knowledge to perform in vivo studies.

Location: NOVUM, HUDDINGE (KI – Campus Flemingsberg)

Time period: 3 months, >80% (flexible)

Candidate profile: you are a motivated scientist, with passion for lab work with the aim of challenging your hypothesis and scientific rationale. Experience in cell culture is a must, as well as a background in cancer biology. Ideally you have worked with glioblastoma and have experience in techniques like qPCR, use of genetic tools (sh/siRNA, lentivirus), western blott, methylation analysis, etc. Experience on epigenetic regulation is a plus.
