Finish on Time

Target group: PhD Students

About the organisation

During the past 13 years, Finish On Time's certified workshop leaders have trained academic staff at almost all of Sweden's universities and colleges (and also abroad). The founder Åsa Burman was a pioneer in Sweden in creating a new method to help doctoral students finish on time and feel goodalong the way. The method means that academic productivity and preventive stress management/sustainable work methods are integrated with each other. This method is based on psychologicalresearch and and tools from the University of California, Berkeley and the business world. The method is presented in the book Bli klar I tid och må bra på vägen and in an English translation Master Effectiveness, Reduce Stress and Finish On Time. The method and techniques have been continuously developed and refined in close collaboration with the target group consisting of PhD students among others. The book is distributed all over Sweden and to at least 15 different countries.

The project

The project has three interrelated parts: first, to conduct some research concerning completion rates and sick leave and stress for PhD students, nationally and internationally. The data will be used for a specific section in the revised edition of the book Master Effectiveness, Reduce Stress and Finish On Timek by Åsa Burman. The second and related part is to make PhD students around the globe aware of the existence of this book. Third, to create a communication plan around the book and our organization. Expected outcome of the first objective would be an excel file with at least five relevant countries as well as a brief database with the latest research on PhD students. The outcome of the second objective would be at least 10 social media posts or emails to relevant parties. And the third would be a 3-5 page ppt presentation of the communication plan. The candidate will work directly with the founder and CEO Åsa Burman.

Location: Mostly Stockholm. If the candidate is interested, she/he is welcome to join us on some of our workshops around Sweden. We do not have our own office so the work place location will need to be somewhat flexible too, having meetings in central Stockholm etc.
Time period: Halftime starting 1st of September. The timing is flexible during the fall semester and half-time is preferred. End date 15th of December the latest.

The candidate

The successful candidate needs to be able to work independently at times, have strong research skills and presentation skills, as well as having mastery of the English language. Some technical skills such as excel, ppt, and social media platforms are assumed. Our organization is an educational company so interest in pedagogy and development work is a plus. As a person, the successful candidate is positive, flexible, with strong social skills. We are a team of nine people working together and the ideal candidate would be a natural fit with this team.
