Key2Brain – a biotech company committed to enabling brain access of therapeutics

Target group

Post-doc and researcher

About the company

Key2Brain is a biotechnology company committed to developing a novel and efficacious brain targeting platform technology that enables brain uptake of biologics and diagnostics.

We are a core team of four operative scientists with long experience from research within pharmaceutical drug discovery and development. We work both virtual and hands-on in labs.
Our work ranges from protein engineering and bioinformatics to translational studies to evaluate the efficacy of the technology. We work in collaboration with academia, national infrastructures and platforms as well as industrial partner companies. Currently, we are in an exciting phase of development where we will expand the team to prepare for our future activities.

Key2Brain is a member of the KI Innovation AB “DRIVE program” and has offices at Innomedicum in the heart of KI Campus Solna.

The project

We are currently evaluating different drug candidates that are produced recombinantly in cells (both bacteria and mammalian cells). The project is focused on exploring expression efficiencies and purification methods and processes as well as characterization of functionality of recombinant proteins, aiming at finding the optimal conditions for production, scale-up and purification of selected drug leads. The project may also include cell-based assays.

Time of project: The project can run between May and December with less activity and supervision during the summer months of June and July.

The candidate

The candidate shall have previous experience in biotechnology and the expression of recombinant proteins in either bacteria or mammalian cells OR experience in purification techniques and characterization of proteins with standard biochemical techniques or more advanced methods (such as LC/MS). The candidate shall be able to independently plan and execute experiments and report to CTO/CSO about plans, progress and results. The candidate shall be highly motivated looking for a career in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
