SIGRID THERAPEUTICS

Target Group: Postdocs and Researchers

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Sigrid Therapeutics, headquartered in Stockholm, is a cutting-edge biotech company dedicated to pioneering innovative solutions for diabetes, obesity, and related medical conditions. Our core product is classified as a medical device, utilising precisely engineered porous silica particles for the treatment of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes through oral administration. Currently, we are at the forefront of the largest commercial prediabetes trial, assessing the effectiveness of our medical device in individuals with prediabetes and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes in lowering long-term blood glucose levels.

At Sigrid, we take pride in our diverse and multidisciplinary team, drawing expertise from fields such as physiology and material sciences, complemented by clinical and commercial proficiency. Our endeavours are bolstered by the invaluable guidance of distinguished clinical and scientific advisors in the field of metabolic health.

PROJECT & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Our overarching goal is to gather comprehensive data that enhances our understanding of the biological responses triggered by the ingestion of Sigrid's patented porous silica particles. Within the scope of this internship, the primary objective is to plan, execute, and report preclinical experiments conducted in our laboratory.

Currently, Sigrid is actively engaged in several projects, each with a specific focus. These projects include screening novel variants of porous silica particles and investigating the impact of silica particles in vitro and in vivo. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments using established methods, with an emphasis on further refining and improving these techniques as necessary.

Moreover, the intern will play a role in facilitating the transition from the preclinical to the clinical stage of our research efforts. This entails tasks such as drafting comprehensive reports and designing experiments that align with the prerequisites for various projects.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who is not only adept at hands-on experimentation but also possesses the ability to contribute to the strategic planning and preparation necessary for advancing our ground-breaking work.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher who possesses a broad knowledge base and a deep personal commitment to advancing the field of diabetes and/or other metabolic diseases. This internship program is flexible in terms of its start date, aligning with the mutual agreement between the postdoc and Sigrid, and has a duration of three months.

We are specifically looking for individuals who exhibit positivity, a penchant for creative problem-solving, self-motivation, and a strong sense of focus. The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. in biosciences or possess an equivalent scientific background. Furthermore, holding a permit to work with laboratory animals in Europe (FELASA certificate) would be highly beneficial. Expertise in areas such as diabetes, metabolic diseases, physiology, molecular biology, enzymology, and biomedicine would be a valuable asset.

Given the concurrent nature of the tasks involved, effective collaboration, proficient time management, and organisational skills are essential. Proficiency in English, both in written and spoken form, is a prerequisite. Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks would be considered a favourable attribute. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to possess in-depth knowledge of laboratory methods, adeptness in data analysis, and a firm grasp of the significance of meticulous and well-organized documentation of experimental data in a timely and precise manner.
