Internship on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) research funding 

Description of organisation 

The Swedish Research Council (SRC; Vetenskapsrådet) is the largest Swedish funder of research at Swedish universities and other publicly funded institutions. The SRC also serve as research policy advisor to the Swedish government and provides strategies, analysis and reviews of Swedish research (see www.vr.se). 

Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) is a trans-national collaboration between 29 countries and the EU on coordination and support of research on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The SRC is the coordinator of JPIAMR and is hosting its Secretariat (see www.jpiamr.eu). 

Target group 

PhD students (1 month) fully financed under the KI Career Service Internship Program -  (2 projects)

Description of projects 

JPIAMR, as a research funder, monitor, assess and communicate the results, outcomes and outputs of its funded research projects and networks. Monitoring of JPIAMR funded research projects involve systematic, recurrent collection of data to observe, track and record the activities of funded projects and networks. The intern will be engaged in analyses of the outcomes and the outputs of the projects and assist the Secretariat in producing information material for the web and general communication. 

The SRC is also coordinating activities in the EU project AquaticPollutants focusing on environmental health and the risk of emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance in waterways. In this project Sweden, Germany and South Africa will present results from funded projects at the WorldWaterWeek in Stockholm in August 2024. The intern will be engaged in planning and organization of a conference seminar and assist in producing information material and general communication. 

Requested qualifications of applicant 

  • Strong background in microbiology and/or infectious diseases is an advantage 
  • Strong communication skills and presentation skills is an advantage 
  • Fluency in English required whilst knowledge of Swedish is an advantage
